Our Ponies:
We raise two types of rare breed ponies - Scottish Highland (5) and Sweedish Gotland (5). We also have a Quarter Horse, Arab, and Standardbred boarding here.
The Highlands are one of the largest pony breeds, just under the 14.2 HH limit for a pony. One of our Highlands weighs about 1200# - now that’s a BIG pony! The Highlands were bred to do everything from riding to plowing fields and pulling wagons in the barren mountains of Scotland.
The Gotlands are shorter (12-13HH) and weigh 500 to 700#, but are very strong, athletic, highly intelligent, and can easily carry a 180# adult, originating from Gotland Island off the coast of Sweden. In Sweeden the Gotlands are used for cart racing.
